I live in Surbiton, near
Kingston-on-Thames. I left Australia in 1999, expecting to be away for
no longer than a year, but life moves mysteriously and I decided to stay
and re-married
in 2000.
My wife's name is Linda and she is a retired theatre sister.

(née Hargrave)
The story of this website is my family tree, rooted in Hungary and bearing the names of Hajós and Cseh.
I was born in England, at the commencement of the second world war, though both my parents were Hungarian having emigrated to UK, in 1938. World War 2 saw the bombing of London and I was evacuated to the country with my mother, father spending some time in Italy with the British Forces. I spent most of my school life boarding away at Redhill in Surrey.
In 1951 my mother and I went to Australia to join the remainder of her family; parents, sister, brother and sister-in-law. My education was fairly straight forward, I went on to university and studied medicine, finally qualifying in ophthalmology in 1968. Specialist practice followed, in Sydney, rural NSW and finally at Westmead Hospital, in Sydney's western suburbs, till I came to England in 1999.
On the way through, I sired four children, all of whom are married, and all now with children.
My father, (see HARGRAVE page), having emigrated to UK in 1936, remarried after demobilisation and remained in UK (principally Scotland), finally died in April 2000, leaving a widow and two sons with their families. Having struggled in Hungary to start his chosen career in journalism without success, he established himself in his new country with distinction as an industrial and political journalist of note.
My mother, Susan Hargrave remained in Australia, dying in 1997, three months before her sister Gabriella Javor. Her brother, Leslie (Cseh) Campbell had died prematurely in 1957. His daughter, Professor Lesley Campbell lives in Sydney, Australia.
So, with a sense of adventure, in 1999 I decided to return to England,
the country of my birth and spend some time there. Two of
my daughters were living in the London area (Samantha and Jessica)
at the time, and as well as my two grandchildren, my father was still
hale and hearty in Glasgow, Scotland. I decided to try my hand at
working in the NHS and there met my current wife, though she was shortly
to retire. We were married in September 2000 and live happily in Surbiton,
near Kingston-upon-Thames. We walk, swim and generally enjoy life. I am
now retired.
